Alright ladies, so you’ve probably heard the phrase “new year, new you.” And in my opinion, a new wardrobe that incorporates the latest styles is the perfect way to feel more confident and on-trend as we kick off 2018!
Don’t know where to start? At Bailey Nicole, we are here to help! Nothing gets us more excited as style lovers than the new trends that make their way from the runways into your closet.
So here’s a look at what’s trending in 2018.
All that Glitters is Gold
2017 was the year of glitter and metallics, and I don’t expect that to change in 2018. Glittery boots were a show-stopper on the streets for the fall, and they will shine brighter than ever as winter weather continues.
We’ll also see this translate to purses, sunglasses and other accessories as spring hits the scene. And even though glitter and sequins are usually reserved for evenings, we’re seeing it in daytime wear as well (no need to change your 9-to-5 attire before evening plans).
Check it Out
There's one print that's dominating the fashion scene, and that's checks. You'll find this design most frequently in business wear, such as blazers and trousers, but it’s also making its way to tops and skirts. Want to spice it up a little bit? Mix it with this next trend: florals!
Florals will be big in 2018, but what’s been fun to watch is the “bouquet” of options we see gracing the runways. Circa 1960s florals are especially popping up pretty this year, with oversized florals in dramatic colorways.
This year will see the reemergence of fringe, yet in a fresh, fun way. The runways saw full-on fringe looks, from dresses to coats and even accessories embellished with this finish. Think fringe isn’t your thing? Check out some of these fun applications from the runway.
Lavender is the New Pink
As you can probably tell from my website, I’m a big fan of the purple hue (go Horned Frogs!). And lavender is a beautiful shade for the coming year, as well as being a welcomed departure from 2017’s millennial pink. Whether in floral prints or as a solid base, lavender and lilac will freshen up wardrobes in 2018.
Supersize Me Jewelry
Even those who are more understated in their fashion can get a pop of bold by selecting the right jewelry. With the look of oversized earrings and layered necklaces, there’s a little hint of 80’s fashion at play – yet the look is refreshed for today’s styles. And don’t forget the color red this year! It continues to provide a punch of color that is perfect for your accessories.
As with every New Year, it’s a great time to assess what’s in your closet, and rethink your wardrobe. Just like they say: out with the old, in with the new!
